A tired patio? Start with the surface, not the pressure.

A patio can look ready for a powerful wash while its joints or stone need something gentler. Identify the material and condition before choosing equipment or treatment.

BEFORE YOU DIVE IN

How would you like to plan your patio care?

01

Do you know the material?

Concrete, porcelain, sandstone and limestone have different care requirements. If you do not know the material, check old supplier details or ask a suitable provider to assess it. Do not trial a strong chemical on an unknown surface.

02

Look at the joints and drainage

Loose pointing, cracked slabs and standing water deserve attention before cleaning. Sweep away loose leaves safely and note slippery areas without walking on unstable paving.

  • Photograph the whole area and any fragile joints.
  • Note steps, narrow access and nearby plants.
  • Do not guess dimensions if measuring is unsafe.

03

Choose a suitable method

Start with the least aggressive method recommended for the surface. Follow product labels, test an inconspicuous area and manage runoff carefully. Pressure washing can remove jointing material or damage delicate finishes.
